Egberto Gismonti
In august I went to the small town Vallekilde to spend a week with Egberto Gismonti - playing his music and getting extremely inspired by this legend and his approach to life and music. It was a lesson in lifelong dedication towards whatever your heritage is and the belief in searching for new ideas through openmindedness and selfdiscipline - hard work, hard work - and hard work. Truly a master.

Ibis - Josefine Cronholm
This autumn we recorded a new CD with Ibis - the group of Josefine Cronholm and her enchanting voice and lyrics. I believe this is going to be a very special production with a blend of poetic folkmusic, free improvisations and sparse influences from ethnic music.

Tomas Gislasson - new film
The danish director Thomas Gislasson made a new film. Filmed in U.S.A. with danish and american actors. The soundtrack were made live as we improvised directly to the pictures on the screen - and afterwards things were added and arranged/manipulated by producer Kasper Winding.
The musicians involved were Thomas Blachman, Dr.- Lennart Ginman, bas -Nis Toxværd, bari.sax
Flemming Agerskov, trumpet.

Takuan - Danish Music Award 2001- Iain Ballamy - Copenhagen Jazzfestival - Rive de Gier/France
In the last year Takuan have had several interesting things coming up. In early spring we won the Danish Music Award 2001 for our CD: Push to participate.
A lot of focus due to this led to a week of performances in Paris and later in the spring we invited british saxophoneplayer Iain Ballamy to do a concert in Copenhagen Jazzhouse - a very nice experience for us and certainly a collaboration we will continue. We did a concert under the Copenhagen Jazzfestival at Borups Højskole who presented the Awardwinners 3 days in a row.
This autumn we play again in France, first at the Rive de Gier Jazzfestival and later a small week in paris - (see Concerts/Recordings Autumn 2001).

Latest Recordings

Some recordings have been released - a few words on this:

Marilyn Mazur, percussionist and composer made a new CD called Earth Songs/Jordsange
It includes the worldfamous vocal group Ars Nova together with Copenhagen Art Ensemble featuring danish/greenlandic singer Aviaja Lumholt and norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset.
Lyrics is made by norwegian Vigdis Garbarek.

Peter Danemo, Swedish drummer named this group Peter Danemo Kapell and it was formed a few years ago. It´s a lovely combination of swedish and danish musicians all with the interest of combining ensembleplaying and improvisation. Peter writes in a beautiful manner with great melodic sense and a lot of personality. This CD is recorded on a tour in sweden and thus it is called ALIVE - I am very happy about this record.

Jakob Davidsen, composer and keybardplayer.
Jakob composed this Helios Suite for his ensemble: The Crossover Ensemble. It is a tribute to the light and energy of the sun and is a very original effort in the field of music written with love for both the contemporary classical and the rythmic tradition. The highly esteemed string quartet, The Zapolski Quartet participates and makes this recording a rare and original recording.

Takuan
Push to participate is the title of our latest Takuan-recording and is very different from the first.
This goes into the field of samples and effects and I have my debut as a singer on this one. Although not a crooner - maybe one day ……
This record were chosen to win the category: Surprise of the year, at the Danish music award 2001

More Jazzvisits
Is a compilation of jazzvisits from 1997-99 were you can hear a recording from one of the concerts Marilyn Mazur, Hans Ulrik and I did with brazilian pianist Eliane Elias and bassplayer Marc Johnson. It was a very pleasant meeting and we had such a good time playing music of everybody involved. Mainly music that is not represented by the tune chosen for this release, but anyway.
